I agree with the statement on Surfside being structureless. Matagorda is a whole different animal. 2 weeks ago we caught 6 bull reds by in the second gut. my wife couldn't touch bottom in that gut. Just be warned, you prolly should have a 4wd vehicle. the beach is prolly alright, but the entrance can get very soft and we've seen the entrance get full of stuck vehicles.
