Inspection of Vehicle in Different County

Does anyone have experience getting a vehicle inspected in a county other than where you reside....more specifically emissions vs. non-emissions testing counties?

From what I have found online it looks like you can request/receive an emissions waiver under certain circumstances, but there isn't a lot of clarity regarding the process.

Texas doesn't check diesels for emissions......?

When I got mine inspected they honked the horn, checked the signals and passed it.

They are probably checking the newer diesels, but the older ones without all the emission equipment just get a safety inspection.

My question relates to a gasoline hunting truck that I use/leave at my hunting lease located in a county where I don't reside. The county were the truck stays for most of the year is a non-emissions regulated county....the county were the truck is registered is an emissions regulated county.

The diesel truck inspection issue is a whole different issue which has kept me from proceeding with a full delete on my current ride.

This is why most don't register vehicles utilized for hunting. What year is the vehicle?

The vehicle is a 1998 Chevy Silverado. I choose to keep in registered for the flexibility of being able to use it on public roads if needed.....just don't want to deal with the hassle of transporting it back and forth to the county where it is registered.

Unless you have a mailing address in that county you are probably out of luck.
