When I replaced the old 3157 lamps that were my wife's DRL's after I found the sockets were blackened from the overheating. Jeep knows this is an issue, but just doesn't care. My answer to this issue was to put in a bulb that draws about a quarter of the current so the sockets don't get anywhere near as hot.

A huge improvement is LED bulbs for the headlights and/or fog lights. They are direct plug and play that produce whiter 6,000K light, versus the stock yellowish incandescent bulbs. I did this in both our trucks a year or so ago and can actually see more of the road ahead, and to the side now.

I bought them off Ebay. I have seen good reviews on Lasfit, Beamtech, etc. I went with the Cree units. You will want a 2 sided blade element with 2 rows of LED's on each side...this best mimics the wire element in the incandescent bulbs that works in the reflector headlight units. You will also want a fanless unit as the fans are not very reliable while cooling fins are. Lastly, you will want around 6,000K light as this is a good quality white light.
