The road to Mitchels cut from the draw bridge in Sargent is closed. We were there on Saturday, they told us it will be closed for awhile due to some damage form the last storm.

The amount of erosion at Sargent is hard to believe.

Bryan Beach is the same way.

It seemed the erosion moderated some but over the past 5 or so years it has accelerated again and with a vengeance.


The water is up against the concrete wall and granite revetment now over sizeable stretch. That means there is only about 120-240 feet (depending on the spot) separating the GIWW from the Atlantic Ocean.

And last time I was there a person could not drive to the mouth of the Brazos on Bryan Beach.

Never thought I would see that.

Go east from 457 and there are places you can fish, road to west, Mitchell's Cut is closed. Not a lot of beach but plenty to fish. Was there last weekend and you can go all the way to Cedar Lake.
