drum POC surf

Advice please re best way to fish the surf. Usually the waves are high so I don't go there. This week should be good, wind to lay down. Should I clear the jetty, head south, cruise the shoreline, anchor where bait is working and cast towards shore; or go farther south past Pass Cavallo? Another option is beaching the boat on the Jhook side of Sunday pass, walk across, wade the gulf side. Ii am alone so don't want to be too ambitious. Any tips would be appreciated.

Run outside the 3rd bar, or between the second and third bar if seas allow and look for rips through the bars where there is a cut/washout and the water is moving out. Fish those rips. They are easier to see if there is some breaking wave action over the bars as the waves won't break where the water is deeper over the rip.
