I’m building some catfish nests for my lake. I have several large, molasses, cattle feed, black tubs with lids. They probably are 35-40 gallons in size

I’m going to wire a brick for weight and wire the lid shut. I have SS wire.

How big should the access holes be cut? One hole or a few at different levels ?

We've had ponds to raise channels and angled 4 inch PVC pipes in bank, worked for us. Always been told it was enough for channels to protect the eggs from perch

Do you remember how long the pipes were? How deep were they placed?
