JFK Boat Ramps

It sure was nice to see the boat ramps at Clem's and Billing's upgraded last year. However, it was a real nightmare during construction with the crowded conditions.

The ramps look nice BUT it would have been nice to see the State add some gravel or pavement beyond the ramps into the parking lot. Now it is a muddy, soupy, mess! This starts right at the edge of the ramp. Better get in and out of you boat in the parking lot away from the ramp. All the water from the tires coming in and out keeps it in poor condition.

Really nice job on the ramps, the rest.... Not so much. Kind of like scoring a 100% on a test and forgetting to put your name on it. A little more detail would have made all the difference.

Your right - super muddy.

If you have to get out of your vehicle while launching and then back into it, your gonna have to step/walk and wade through a mud hole or two.

I try and launch from the east side of the Billings ramp - less mud.

Hopefully the ramps will get some gravel or better yet (wishing) concrete.

Is it just me? When driving by the access piers beside the ramps look really high... I haven't had a need to use them yet but they sure don't look like easy ramps to use getting in and out of your bay boat.

The last time I used Billings ramp, I docked the boat solo and didn't have the option to get in and out of the boat, away from the muddy ramp. I got the boat flooring muddy which made it extremely slippery. While anchored, my 6 year old slipped out of the boat due to the mud. She didn't get hurt but we both received a good scare. From the pic, you can see she is drying off and a little mud on the floor by her right foot. There was a lot more mud in the back part of the boat. Haven't used those muddy ramps ever since.

Clems is SUPER high and in my opinion was a mistake in design. Billings was built later and is lower.

Clem's was built by yahoo's. I had heard that after they finished Billing's that they were going to pave both. The way things usually work in Corpus is that they will wait until the peak of the boosting season and then close both of them for 6 months.
