Chilling hot livewell water with ice in the summer is popular with live baiters

Boy is it HOT again this morning at my house, 91 F @ 7 AM! I read yesterday that now is the hottest time in all recorded history and it’s getting hotter every day too– not good for any live baiters trying to keep a few live baits alive on Galveston Bay, Gulf waters or anywhere in the world.
Some say Global Warming is caused by over-population of the world… too many people, cows, rats, mice, dogs, cats, cars, coal and oil consumers plus to many people in archaic wood burning cultures. It’s too many people that are causing the world to get so hot.

The old timers say live bait is more comfortable in chilled livewell water on a hot summer Dog Days like last week.
Whatever you want to call it (if there’s a name for this problem) that happens it is real bad for the croakers and shrimps in livewells. That hot water kills that live bait in seconds, not minutes. Those same croaks and shrimps were living fine these past weeks in that hot bay water before they were chilled with ice in cold livewell water, hookes-up and tossed back into the hot bay water.

This never, ever happens to any plastic baits in the D-days of summer and plastic baits are cheaper than live croaks or shrimps… a plus for plastic baits in the summer because they keep wiggling every time the rod tip moves and never die.

Any thoughts from live baiters? What do you think happens to all those chilled croaker or shrimp in cool 68 F livewell water, when it’s hooked up and tossed back intothat 95 F Galveston bay water?

Your issue is when you take that bait who got used to the cooler water and put it in warm water

It shocks the bait

G Bay water was nice and cool yesterday during my wades maybe 87 but on Tuesday was 91 .... we are at the time of the year we’re we start getting these cool fronts that bring some cool rain down to help cool. But yes have always wondered how long they will stay alive down there after being chilled.

Hottest ever? You shoulda been around for the heat during the first week of August 1731....

Seriously, how do we get to the "EVER" designation?

We've only been keeping records for a rather short period of time....

What's your agenda with posting this stuff?

Your posts are too off the wall random but full of "hot topics" to be posted without a motive.

Here it is again... try to focus.

There's plenty fishery information about temperature shock problems with fish going from warm to cold water but that is not the issue here.

July Was the Hottest Month Ever Recorded on Earth https://www.livescience.com/july-hot...te-change.html Moat likely the highest live bait kill ever in livewells. Just Fact, that's all.

How about this... when you put the shrimp or croaker in your livewell, you put them in at “room temperature (the temp of water that they came out of). After they have been in there a little while you drop a little ice in there to “shock them” or give them a little energy. Thisnt isn to drop the water to “68 degree livewell water” it’s to drop it 5 degrees or so to give them a boost. So your question about what happens is null and void using your statistics in my opinion... what happens in my situation?? They get eaten pretty dang quick and I don’t see any issues!!
Now the global warming stats... if you can answer how the world has gone through 3,4,5, or 7 however many ice ages “before man was here” but yet now the warming of the earth is “mans fault” then I will be glad to listen to your arguments. But until then, please don’t bring that stuff up without actual facts and not global warming bought and paid for scientist by Al Gore as your resources.
Hope you have a blessed day

If everyone would stop responding to his posts he might go away or quit with his global warming agenda.
