Lots of great rod builders here on the board. Check out their work in the rod building forum. Fishsurfer, Big Bay, and katjim00 do great work, just to name a few. Look around and see if you like someone's work.

I fish full time and there is no better rod in my opinion than Sarge Customs. Give him a call.

Always wondered what a guy who fished with both a Sarge and high end Waterloo considered the best...

I have fished with both and both are great rods, I wont take anything away form ether builders on product. When it comes to comparing the two you are splitting hairs, it will honestly just come down to what feels right in your hands. I have 2 Waterloos and 10 Sarges. I personally do like the feel of Sarge's better but Sarge himself is what makes Sarge Customs so great. He is just a great down to earth guy that will take care of his customers (and is a ball of fun to be around). I didn't have the same experience dealing with Waterloo.

Another recommendation for Sarge

Sometimes, he'll have a rod that was made to order but the customer bailed. You can get a good deal on one of those. I ordered one with no frills - no fancy thread patterns, no name or motto (just black on black) - and it brought the price of mine down noticeably. Best rod I've ever had in my hands, even over two Lagunas that I really like

Sarge or Laguna. I'm not a big fly fisherman, but if you have the money to drop go Sage.

To tell you the truth (although no one wants to hear it) I don't care for my Billystix. Not that it's a bad rod, because I know a lot of people on here love them, but it's just not for me.

I’ve got Palo rods. Love the Jefe rods. Have a couple bait cast and a spinning. Have some of there kryptek camp rods he made also and they seem good also.
