Shimano Chronarch E series replacement

Well after this past weekend down in POC, it looks like I may be needing to replace my Chronarch. I've had this reel for about 5 or 6 years (?) And have completely loved it. When I went and bought it I got this one and a Lews and returned the Lews after throwing it for the weekend. Looking for replacement ideas for this reel. Ideally I would like the identical reel, but being as Shimano doesn't make them anymore, that's gonna be tough. I've looked at the new Curados and some of the 13 Fishing reels. Thanks in advance!

eBay for used one? Did you have the 50 or the 200? Either way, Look at the Curado 70/200K/150DC. You can add bearings to the worm gear and on the handle knobs if you wish.

Those old reels are easy to rebuild! Costs about $30 labor plus parts - if any. I'd recommend servicing before replacing!

And, personally I would not recommend chinese made reels nor the Korean made Lew's... I think Shimano makes some of the best reels on the planet.

I am still using Shimano reels as old as 25 years or more and still just as smooth now as the day they were made.

Find your nearest Shimano warranty repair facility and mail it to them! Or, send it back to Shimano.

Usually they can be rebuilt without parts.

sheepy2 My 2 Cents

I agree on having it rebuilt. It can be done locally and any parts you need can be found on the Internet. I still use the old Greenies and haven't needed to try to find anything better. Same for my fishing with terminal tackle. I use the old Abu Garcias/Ambassadeurs that were made in Sweden. Good luck.

Im looking for the same thing. I had Chronarch 50e reels and one was stolen and the other ran over by the brother n law šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø. Iā€™m wanting to upgrade to the newest Shimano reel that is basically the Chronarch 50e or a little better. Not wanting the top of the line $900 reel either. Thanks.
