East Matagorda

Looking to launch out of Sargent to do some fishing in East Matagorda later this week. Is Caney Creek still keeping that side of the bay really fresh/dirty? If so, how far west would you need to go before the water cleaned up enough to catch reds and trout?

The creek is back to normal, the water is salty, and Mitchell's cut was blue yesterday afternoon, but this is the report forum, ask questions in the general fishing discussion forum.

tarpon Deep

East gorda water should be in excellent shape right now. The wind can change this, but a light wind day should be good. Might want to try open water deeper reefs, wading early with top water or tails. The west end reefs, boat fishing is good this time of year, again with tops and/or tails. Don't be afraid to throw a topwater in the deeper stuff, that's my favorite, any time of the day. If you drift the west end, keep an eye on your depth finder, try to find a hump, or structure to key in on. Tight lines.
