Poc surf

Fished the flat ocean . Ran south out of the poc jetties about 11 miles . Say a few pods of tarpon .. 300 yards off shore there are clouds of pilchards .. in the surf the water is brown with shrimp .. these shrimp clouds extended the entire length of the beach for all 11 miles.

Fishing was terrible .. it took nearly 20-37 seconds on every cast to hook a decent trout .. if you lost that trout it took a ..eternity .. nearly 45 seconds to hook another. Obviously the jerk shrimp under a popping cork was the star of the show. I was using a wine colored jerk shrimp under a 4 horseman cork .. it was magic

The trout were in massive schools and they were moving ., so camping in one spot for two long was not the best strategy. The seagulls are the best indication of trout .. the pelicans are working the pilchards with jacks, Spanish macks, and tarpon ..

Most trout were in the 20” range,, not fat but all had good length

There are also THOUSANDS of small black tip sharks .. small being 24-36” long .. the are everywhere .. they seems to be scattered until you got hot and heavy popping the cork then they really hone in

Great report. I am heading down to poc this weekend. Do you know what 10-15 mph SE winds do in that area. I think it might be to rough to go outside the jetties this weekend?

Was down in poc surf Thursday, Friday and absolutely smoked the trout just south of the pass. As for ur question afoot the wind a stiff 12 to 15 on the wind depending on the tide can get a little nasty. Super nasty on a outgoing tide

10-15 won’t be terrible but still be careful. Out around the jetty the conditions can change fast. You can check the swell forecast but I’d recommend saying inside the jetty depending on your boat.

The boat can handle it but no matter what I try I will be sick as a dog unless it looks like SouthTexasSlayer's pic.
