Surf report 8/3/19

I met John_b at the surf near Sea Isle around 6 on Saturday. Surf was flat with some slight rollers and it was pretty clear, I could almost see my feet when in chest deep water.

I was there for a top water bite and he had croaker. I start throwing a glow shedog and started getting blow ups pretty soon and caught one small fish before the topwater bite died. I switched over to tails and started getting them bite off, pretty sure it was blue fish.

Meanwhile John was getting very quick action on croaker but only 1/3 hootset, which told me smaller fish.

Around 7-7:30 I decided it was time to look for more action and started driving West. I stopped near the pass where a TON of shark guys had out long lines and saw group of guys get tangled up in them, but saw no-one with trout and I didn't get a bite.

Next over the pass and stopped at car bodies for about 30 minutes. I talked to 2 older guys who has been there since 6, said they caught 2 on plastics in about 3 hours. I caught 2 lady fish on tails before deciding to pack it up and drive the beach.

I drove pretty much the entire beach and ended up checking out the SS pocket. I saw lots, over a 100 trout guys fishing and very very few people with fish.

Best part of the day was a bronco burrito.

Where did you hit the bronco burrito? Sounds tasty.

Water was too clear and not any cloud cover as in previous weeks. Sunlight hurts the Trout's eyes like it does mine. I have tried to help them by donating a couple of my Costa's over the years.

Fishwrangler is a Landlubber (+10 to -10)
We crushed it over the weekend with artificial with our best fishing in the middle of the day. Key for us was finding birds. Took us awhile, but our patience paid off!

Bite was good on Saturday. from 830 to 930 east of the condos at access #5. Caught a limit on croakers. Biggest being 21 inches. Caught 3 more CR. Trout were right on the drop off of the second sand bar. Small pods of mullet would come by and trout were right under them.

Buddy and I managed 7 Sat am, me 5 him 2 and his first salt water trip, We fished with Croakers. Remainder of group about the same. No real size.

I managed 7 tonight on the incoming tide same spot, every 5-7 wave was set of 3 over your head if you were on the second bar.

Right down from ivomec.
