A bust

Arrived at the Christmas boat ramp with the kayak right about sunup. It was me and another friend I met from the military. I cruised east and busted a rat red and 2 ladyfish before I even got to churchill. Water was crazy high and there was abundant schools of bait. I wandered through churchill all the way to cold pass. no fish. I went back to the boat launch and decided to go west. I got a couple tails bit off of my gulp before switching to DSL's. I got a couple short hits but no takers. Bait everywhere, which led to no production.

Thanks for the kayak report from a favorite fall place of mine to kayak. Sorry the fish weren’t especially cooperative. Water is up, that seems to be the rule these days in the early fall. A good front or two out of the northwest, whenever that happens, will blow some water out of there.

Was like that for me for few hours my last trip, but found that reds and some trout following schools of large mullet. Was in a boat, but ended up throwing at mullet schools of 5-10 of which one red would be there probably looking for whatever they stir up. Nonetheless limited on reds and ended with probably 23 that we’re 16-19 1/2. Most were with those schools chilling on any edge whether it be the channel or from a sharp drop where I couldn’t float( bout 15”) to 3 ft or more. Trout were mixed in as well on them drops and ended with a few keepers. Hope it may help next time out.

Like many said that place can be productive this time a year . Not sure how far of a paddle it is but I would put her in the wind and head towards rattle snake point then fish the north side of Christmas.
