I have an Ulterra on my Outlaw. It’s great when it works. Been in the shop twice so I would recommend getting a QD mount and a backup trollling motor if you use them often. It’s not a matter of if it will break, but, when. Of course, my buddy’s Terrova has been in the shop too so they aren’t bulletproof.
It was a major design flaw not having the ability to manually deploy the Ulterra. This could at least save a trip before you can get it into the shop |

I have had a terrova for 3 maybe 4 years now with ZERO problems. The lift assist is great. Don't use any kind of ram mount to hold the head. TO me that would be bad and transfer any hits to the boat to the trolling motor. The saft is designed to be somewhat flexible.
Make sure you get the Nav puck to better hold spot lock. Make sure you can blue tooth to your phone as well in case the controller battery goes bad. WOW you cannot manually deploy the Ulterra. That would be a done deal for me. Would not buy it. Didn't buy once since more to break. Looks like I made the right decision. |

Terrova vs Ulterra
Thanks for all the input. I think I'll get the Terrova based on reliability. The Ulterra not being able to be manually retrieved threw it the Terrova's way.
