My Ulterra has been a nice addition to my boat. No issues thus far. And, I got the extra warranty at West Marine, so I’m not overly concerned with issues.

Warranties are great to cover the cost of repairs, but they don’t help you when something is broke and you can’t use it.

If you do a quick search you’ll see that the Ulterra has a ton of negative reviews. Kenny from YellowSkeeter install this stuff for a living and he doesn’t even recommend them. But that doesn’t mean every single one of them is a bad egg. Hopefully you got one of the good ones.

I have an Ulterra, no issues, but I would get a Terrova next time. The Terrova is a simpler design , offering peace of mind. The lift assist makes the Terrova easy to deploy/ retrieve.

If you decide on the Ulterra, order two of them. You can use one while the other is in the shop! I have a Terrova and an Ulterra and I LOVE my Terrova.

Love the ulterra and will always have one as long as I'm running a tower boat but they are very unreliable and I've yet to have one that has not broken several times. I've had 4 different ones and each of them has gone out at some point.
