If you’re at Jamaica, go to Waterman’s on Stuart Rd. $10. Five minutes from you.

I’ll second Waterman’s. It’s a clean safe launch point.

cavenat@sbcglobal.net is a Landlubber (+10 to -10)
Watermans Marina is the cleanest boat launch in Galveston. Mgr Jeff is a great guy. Launch also has a nice restaurant, which is good for a burger and beer after a long day on the water.

This is the first I’ve heard of this place watermans. I looked it up and I’m definitely launching there next time. Looks like good access to West bay too.

Hey 2coolers, for those of y’all who launch out of watermans, y’all head straight east out of the harbor?

If you're not familiar with that area, head straight out until you are even with the south shoreline, then you can turn and head toward the Causeway. Or back toward San Luis Pass for that matter.

Bring someone with you who knows the area the first few times out. Lots of places to get stuck, hundreds of yards from shore, especially with low winter tides. (Ask me how I know that, living in Sea Isle...)

Even some of the marked channels have silted in and wear down props trying to get out recently.

Running an extra skinny boat is a mixed blessing. You can have a 300 yard push if you come down off plane in the wrong spot. Or cross your fingers and hope the tide comes in before you get hypothermic...
