Trolling Motor on Shoalwater 14.5 Cat
In all my research I couldn't find a whole lot about how one would fit on my 14.5 Shoalcat. Wanted to put this out there for others to reference.
I went with a Minn Kota 52" 55# 12V Rip Tide SE, with the quick release bracket (RTA-19). Here is how I found it fit best. I'm still able to open my front compatment when it's up and am going to have another block added to the lid of the baitwell so I can put it in the rear when crossing rough stuff. Right now I'm running it off a battery I'm keeping in a milk crate until I decide if I want to pull wires through the hull. I like being able to shed the weight when I know I'm not going to be trolling. This weekend I was able to troll myself shallow enough the hull was scraping oyster. About 6" draft and you can still pull the boat around with it. Hope this helps! |

Doc, Looks good. Like the mount.
Been going to put one on the Baby Cat and just not had the time. I know that Donny uses the RT55/SM/L&D/SC/H42" shaft on the BC but with the dual compartments up front one gets blocked. Let me know how it works. |

Papa Lud
I have the same boat and am considering adding a trolling motor. Were you able to through mount the bracket? If not how did you mount? Is there access to the front if you go through the anchor locker? I know this is an old thread but any help would be appreciated

Trolling Motor on Shoalwater 14.5 Cat
I know this post is old but I have this same boat and am considering adding a trolling motor. Is there a way to through bolt and gain access through the anchor locker. Would anyone that has a bow mount trolling motor on their 14.5 Shoalwater Cat be willing to share information on how they mounted and how well it has held up? Any advice is appreciated as there are a lot of great folks on this site. Thanks
