West Bay/ Choclate

My fam and I will have a boat house near chocolate bay by sea isle bait camp Monday-Wed next week. Any suggestion on where some good spots are around that area? I have a 21ft bay boat. I never been in that area before. Any tips would help ! Thanks

Chocolate

Chocolate Bay is very tricky. The reefs are really bad outside of the channel markers. I haven't been out there in a while but I used to fish it all the time. You could say I cut my teeth on that bay. There is some decent fishing but again you really have to watch those reefs. My recommendation for someone who hasn't been fishing on that bay is don't be hauling arse anywhere except the channel.

Whatever you do, don't try to make it into Hall's Bay unless you see someone else go 1st and take note of how they went in. The entire place is a really shallow area to fish.

Generally speaking it isn't an overcrowded area either so take your time and watch your depth finder. I've caught many a fish drifting/trolling the shoals of the channel.

Good luck and be safe.

Hook n line map F127 will help

Lots of reefs ... not a place to run around exploring your first time

PVC poles mark some of the reefs .... but dont count on them being there

Drift fish it with your motor down so you don’t get too shallow

tarpon pass

behind the pass is good now, fish on the flats and guts. bird island is a good area now as well. might even want to try the bridge if you can maneuver to it from west. crowds are horrendous, no one is working and all on the water. dr facci said this is the new norm, i hope not for the bay.
