Finally got around to deep cleaning my old green curado cu200's. I have never pulled the handle side off before. I cleaned out all the old grease with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. For re-assembly, should I apply any grease or oil? I feel like a little grease on the roller clutch bearing wouldn't hurt and maybe a little oil on the drive gear and yoke wouldn't hurt but looking for some 2cool advice.
On the shimano site they say to oil around the brake collars, spool bearing, brake case and spool bearing, rewind system. It says to grease the drive gear and drag washer.
My main concern is greasing the roller clutch and the drive gear; I'm just no sure and since my reels are older, not sure if I should go by the general tips on the shimano site.
Grease attracts dirt n grime just a lil light oil on cleaned bearings I only put shimano drag grease on drag washers. If not not going to tare down completely you may get away with reel scrub and some air.
I soak my metal parts in laquer thinner and a very very very light coat of grease on my main gears and drag stack and pinion gear and very light oil on bearings and i rub oil on any moving parts i just feel like it helps against the saltwater
