Launched out of Eagle Point at daybreak with a plan to work deep structure on the outgoing tide. Dropped the trolling motor in - dead! (Even though it had been on the charger for days.) Plan B was then to quietly drop anchor (is that possible) but between the breeze and a strong tide the anchor would not hold in the shell. Plan C - motor to deep reefs in East Bay and drift them. No problem doing that, but they were dead. Several hours drifting netted one dink. Plan D - try the deep shell in lower Trinity. When I arrived, the tide was still going out but much slower than early in the morning. Working a 1/4 oz limetreuse BA slowing across the bottom netted a limit of specks to 22" in about 45 minutes. A lot of running around but paid off in the end. Dropped the boat off at the shop on the way home to see what the heck happened to the trolling motor.
