Travis' striper population is small.. a few guys know them well and catch a few here or there. I caught a 42 inch beast below the travis dam about 10 years ago on a large swimbait and theres some sows in the lake as well. I would cover water trolling until you mark some on the sonar then go back with shad or perch. Nothing more appealing to a striper than those two.
Yep Tobin...Its getting harder and harder to catch some decent size fish outta Travis now,at least for me.I tell people I have to drive couple hundred miles to the coast to catch fish! Maybe come out with a freshwater DVD!
I can say some of the biggest black bass Ive caught have been striper fishing.Dropping a huge perch down only to reel up a 5-7 lb bass...still fun!
