Curado Bantam CU-200

I have 2 of the old greenies I bought 14 years ago used that have been great reels. I get them cleaned regularly. They typically cast great. On one of the reels, the spool is really rubbing/slowing when casting and it is really limiting casting distance. Is there something that can be changed out/replaced? I had it serviced about 3/4 months ago at FTU.

Thanks

Have you checked the tensoner knob to make sure its not too tight? Or too loose?

What's it rubbing on?

Yes. I have played with the knob quite a bit. Not sure what is causing the issue of the spool not spinning freely when i am casting.

I was curious if someone might know if it is a major component of the reel, or if it is something else.

Check the spool shaft for any find of small buildup. My 100d was acting similar and there was small salt buildup on the spool shaft under the tension knob.

sheepy2 My 2 Cents

Since you have 2 reels I would do this:
1. put the good spool and spool shaft in the bad reel and see if that fixes the problem. If not, then,
2. put the spool bearings from the good reel in the bad reel. If the problem still persists then,
3. put the side covers/bearing carriers of the good reel on the bad reel and see if that fixes the problem. If not then,
4. use it as-is or sell the reel to me for parts!

P.S.- I have an old Ambassadeur 6000 that I received as a high school graduation gift in 1967. The spool also rubs on the frame. I have about 200 Ambassadeur reels and I just can't figure out how to fix this one! I think it may be just totally worn out, like its owner!
