RAin Bird Rain Sensor Wire Color

I am replacing my old Rain Bird rain senor with new one. The old wiring that was in the weather, is deteriated. But unfortunately, I cannot thread the new wire that comes with the unit all the way to the Rain Bird Box. It is walled into my garage by peg board. I would have to remove all tools, etc, from the peg board and unscrew the 4x8 sections to get to the wire.

However, the wire inside the garage leading "from" the outside appears to be in good shape and I want to splice the new to the old.

Here is the question. The new wire has the red color plastic cover over the wire, ( positive) and black wire color ( neg), whereas the old wire has a wire that has a small white stripe and the other with no coloration.

Is the old wire with the small white strip, the neg or pos?

Rain Bird does not have on website information to tell me this.

Thanks...Happy Thanksgiving

Stripe wire is usually positive if with a solid wire.

Multimeter to verify but stripe , positive.

If you have fairly modern controller, a rainbird wireless adapter might be an easier fix for you or switch to a Racchio controller, runs off your phone and connects to local weather stations. I’ve installed over 20 Racchios this year and have been very impressed for its price point.

It doesn't matter how you connect it, it's just a switch. When it rains, there are some cork like wafers in it that swell and open the circuit to break the common and prevent irrigation.
