Corpus area fishing guide dargel 250 Kat

I've been wanting to purchase the dargel 250 HDX Kat. I would like to know how the ride is. If any of y'all know or recommend a fishing guide in the Corpus Rockport area that fish a Dargel 250HDX let me know. If any of y'all own a dargel 250 HDX and want to comment on the ride quality and personal experiences that boat is given let's hear it.

I think Scott Null in Port o Conner runs one when he is not poling for reds.

Never fished with him, just heard it on the Bite Me podcast he hosts with John Lopez.

I have owned the 250 Kat with 300 G2 Evinrude for a year. Love the Kat but hate the G2. Been in the shop for over 3 months during that time. Not all due to G2 but most. Been towed three times and limped in at idle once.

Boat runs shallow (shallower than it floats) and handles rough water much better than my previous 24 Bluewave. Much dryer too. Cat hull definitely takes getting used to. It does not track as well so spend more time adjusting steering. Have taken it offshore numerous times, as far as 40 miles, and handles that much better than my v Hull.

You can pm me if you have more questions.
Mark

I have had my 250 for about 3 years, and love it. It does everything I want to do. Runs shallow, and as previously stated, shallower than it will float. It needs 18" of soft bottom to get up.
I take it off shore quite often, as long as the forecast is 3' or less, but the last time it said 3' and it was closer to 4', with some 5's. They were easy rollers so it was all good. Handles well, and is a comfortable dry ride.

what has it been in the shop for?? this can happen to any motor, i keep hearing horror stories about newer motors. Yamaha 4-strokes included. is it a design flaw, could be a lemon.

Several problems but more than once it is low voltage system issue. Evinrude is replacing part of the digital throttle system. Hope that is the problem.

I have searched message boards and don’t see chronic issues being discussed with the G2. If my problems persist then I will call mine a lemon. Next step will be to see how Evinrude responds.
