Final Score: Pigs-4; Me (Hunter?)-0
I'm back. Storms went around the ranch Saturday and Sunday night. Lots of lightning to the north and east. Looked like more rain this morning but we let before it started. The big boar came out 3 of the 4 nights I hunted him. I think he hits the green light feeder/pig pipe every night! Three clean misses with the once trusty 22-250. The fourth was the pigs that came to the feeder I was sitting at and I bumped the stock of my rifle and scared them off. I shot at the last pig on the run and thought I missed him. No blood, no squeal and not flopping of dead carcass. The buzzards found him a day later and proved me wrong. I did figure out my shooting problem. I think the rain, mud and pig activity under the green light feeder and maybe a little settlement in the trailer due to the recent rains may have changed how my bullet travels down the hill from the shooting window to the area under the feeder. I think the bullet is passing through brush/grass/weeds and maybe grazing the ground before it gets there. I confirmed this by shooting at a can under the feeder. Three shots, all misses and no bullet holes in the mud behind the can. I guess I need to fill the hole under the feeder and/or raise the shooting window in the trailer. I guess I may need to put a bunk bed next to the window and shoot from the top bed! End of Story!
