I run the Santee rig but with a rattle attractor and a tandem snelled rig of 5/0 to 8/0 octopus style circle hooks about 6" apart. If I'm using larger gizzards or bluegill the end hook is the "stinger" behind the dorsal... If I only catch smaller threadfins, I just run two baits on the same rig. Most versatile setup I've found... but I'm almost always drifting / trolling... rarely anchored.
I agree, I just go home rather than anchor.
Something about drifting appeals to me like no other fishing.
