Port A July 10

My Son is on leave from Coast Guard mid July.
We are heading to Port A for some offshore fishing. We have plenty of boat, gear, and safety equipment. We just don't get to go much.

Couple of simple questions for the regulars.
When do shrimp boats start working?
Will be there 10-14 of July.

Is the weed lines broken up or are there big patches to fish.

Whats the water been like. Green /Blue?
I just kinda want to know what to expect out to about 30-40 miles.

Thanks

shrimp boats will not start up until a few days later then your trip. it has been pretty green pretty far out and no consistent weed lines yet. That being said, a lot could change in 10 days. go catch your snapper 30-40 out and then troll for kingfish and others around the same areas.
