Pit Boss Trouble

I have a Pit Boss pellet grill that wont feed pellets. At 600 bucks I think i'm going to take it apart to check it out instead of running down and buying a new one. I guess the auger is jammed. With all the rain we have had here in Victoria and the humidity being out the roof maybe the pellets swelled due to the humidity. Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Wiley

I would definitely start by emptying the hopper and then check the auger for soot build up around it. Ive heard that build up can occur from unburned pellets and cause a malfunction in the auger.

Auger stuck. Wet pellets or just build up of dust etc. Got it fixed and all cleaned up.

Thanks

They have pretty good customer service if you have any issues in the future.

Took it apart, put channel locks on the auger coupling and moved it back and forth as to free it up from being stuck. Let run until auger was empty, blew pit etc out with my air compressor, cleaned everything, put it back together

Unfortunately I've dealt with this a few times and it's usually the dust that gets moist & seizes everything up. I've learned how to free it up without disassembly. Empty your pellets so you can see the auger inside the pellet box. You can get a pair of channel locks on the auger there and while putting pressure on it to turn hit the feed button. Do this several times and it will eventually free up.
