funny that magazines/news agencies still pay for images yet many will give images to them for free. I have a stellar hi res image of Boomvang that can be published if they're willing to pay for the rights to the image. Here's a low res version:

Whats the going rate for pictures? May be high enough to start turning some fisherman into jr. photo journalists. Ha!

it all depends on usage. Some magazines pay as little as $50 to use an image and others upwards of $2000. It's DEFINITELY not a business to get into if you're looking to make money. (Think how many people you know who make a REAL living as fishing guides or on the gulf course)
I've been shooting for 20+ years and still am forced to have a day job...especially in the Internet age of magazines getting decent images for free or for "exposure". Every time some company offers me "exposure" as a form of compensation...I ask them how much money, education and time have they invested in THEIR business. Most times I have MUCH more investment than they've even thought of.
