"Sounds like there is sand in there or something"

customer came in said I don't know what could be wrong I take real good care of my reels.They are either in the truck or up in the rack. It sounds like there's sand in there.
Accurate and avet are not built to fish on the beach.

only time sand ever gets in my Penns or Abu's is when someone drops the rod/reel in the surf.

I have felt the sand in my real but but never heard i!

But then again, I never opened a reel that looked like this.

Worst was when I spent a few evenings getting beat up in the surf far beyond what I would do in my now, 60's.

When the waves are bangin' hard enough the sand will get in there. As tired as you are after that gotta give them at least some TLC.

I feel like the sand also etches surfaces so that any saltwater left in a reel can attack at least those spots without protective oxide micro-protection.

Am I way off on this?
