Yoder

Not to knock Yoder pellet smoker but, my y640 is rusting like a son of a gun! Anyone else having this problem? Mine stays in the garage and covered up, I do live in Santa Fe so on the coast in a way. After spending 1500 bucks and only 1 1/2 years old kinda disappointing.

My Rec-Tec did the same thing after only 4 years. I just went with a Pitts and Spitts Maverick 1250 this time around.

I don't blame you for being disappointed. $1500 is a bunch for that to happen.

Santa Fe resident here too and I went with a Green Mountain Daniel Boone and same story with flaking paint and rust showing up. I just love the grill but just not sure of the longevity. It has been an awful cool and wet year. Related?

Don't think so, mine stays in the garage covered! Been reading on other forums and that's the knock on Yoder the "rust issue".

My RecTec is about 5 years old and lives under a 10' x 60' back porch. The paint is peeling off on the hopper. Surprisingly, just some rust around the lid opening edges so far. I am thinking about ordering a new RecTec stainless cooker and giving mine to our son.

My YS640 stays outside under a covered porch. So far no flaking. But I do wipe it down with Pam from time to time.

I was going back and forth between Yoder and Pits and Spits. The rust issue is one of the reasons I went with the Pitts and Spit. I also like the roll top design. It should be ready next week.
