Training Contract Re-Payment
I am voluntarily leaving a job at which I am under contract for repayment of training costs upon my departure.
My new employer is including this re-payment as part of a signing bonus.
My question is if there is a tax advantageous way to use the signing bonus to pay off the training contract? I’ve asked about having a portion of the bonus sent directly to my old employer without passing through me, however that isn’t a option at the moment.
If you can recommend a professional who deals with this type of issue I’m all ears!
