Help Help Keep LL Stripers healthy

Shadslinger made a outstanding Point that more times then not:

"These fish will not tolerate being caught and released when the water temp is above 82 degrees here, so I always get my limit and stop fishing for them. There have been a lot of floaters that people have caught and released lately."

I am like the next guy, I get sometimes every excited and want to catch fish but we need to stop after getting a limit. I hope that we can teach others and pass this information along to someone that does not know the fish like Loy dose as well as others know Stripers. So Please keep this in mind when getting on the fish that they can not take the heat. so down the road we can have fish that are strong and healthy to keep good numbers of Stripers in Lake Livingston.

I don't target the stripers to often on Livingston but I can tell you they deserve taking care of. We used to fish for them every spring on Rayburn. They quit stocking them and they disappeared, you don't miss em until they are gone. If you want to keep fishing rig up and try the whites or the blues.

Just try and remember that at times those school fish are undersize...and if even ever so slightly, I'm not keeping an illegal fish.

I get where you're coming from but it seems kinda like a broad brush statement.

No one I fish with or around would dump a keeper fish.

This is just my opinion and does not reflect the opinion of al fisherman on the water.

I think Loy was speaking of stopping after you catch a limit of legal fish. It's awful tempting to keep catching fish especially when those schools are blowing up. I personally only fish for them in the winter but that's just a personal thing for me. It keeps me from wanting to go deer hunting

The ones that I caught and posted I stopped after I had my limit. The other 15 were under sized. Keep the fish for the future.

If I catch 5, I quit. This time of year we really need a no cull rule. Even the little guys will perish in the heat.
