single faucet shower plumbing problem

I have a single faucet shower handle system and only hot water comes out. I have replaced the cartridge nothing changed.. I turned the water off at the house and removed the cartridge ..turned the water back on and only water comes out the hot side of the valve body. I can only suspect a clog in the cold water valve or galveanized piping. Is therea special small snake or and way to snake or unclog a galvanized pipe line coming in to the cold water side of the brass valve housing?

Try using a small piece of steel wire.

I may be wrong, but when I replaced my Moen single lever shower cartridge, I was told that if you put the catridge in upside down, it would only allow hot or cold to work, but not both. ????

turn the water off -- remove cartridge -- turn water on ,, see if you can blow out any trash and if water is coming out of cold side ,, also you could shut down the hot side at the water heater,

Like you said seems like the cold side is clogged w sediment/trash. Might have to pull that valve off to clear it. Hard to diagnose on the Internet.
