Has anyone fished around bolivar anytime recent. Thinking of making a day trip. Throw some lures and put some lines out for whatever wants to chew. Any input before I make the 4 hour drive would be appreciated

Just got back from fishing from rollover to the ferry yesterday...nothing but thick chocolate milk....there were a few small Whiting in the surf. Then we found an oyster bed with tailing reds....but lost $40 in tackle trying to get them...did some night fishing on the 91st street pier over the weekend and it was slow...others reported doing well off the smaller jetty rocks there in Galveston that same day...hit up surfside surf a few days before that and it was only slightly better...I think there is just to much freshwater near bolivar at this time....possibly do better going south.
