You're truck is a complete different animal than his. Different Trans all together.

I understand that, but the point is these trucks regardless of the brand are made to pull within the limits of the truck (OP stated his truck had towing package). I wouldnt expect his tanny or truck to handle a 3/4 ton load but it's all relative IMO.

The 4L60E is a very weak transmission in Chevy 1/2 ton trucks. Plenty of research available about them. If I towed a lot I would add a performance cooler. If you're towing over your vehicles limits then you're towing on borrowed time. I own a Chevy so I am not a hater. Quite common to hear of failures between 90k-120k.
