Got murdered this week in Aransas Pass

Wow. 6 keeper trout and no keeper redfish for 6 days. Mud Island, Traylor Island, Estes flats, Steadman reef, Ship channel and points in between. Caught a couple lizardfish and a stargazer. Friend told me South Bay was happening but he blanked there the next day.

Possibly our worst showing ever. Tell me I'm not alone....

Buddy of mine hammered them this past weekend, but he was on the other side of town fishing Carlos/Mesquite area. They had 20 by 8:30 both days. Did you use live bait?

Not sure about the rest of you, but mid-July through August has been a slow time for me for a few decades now. Only times I've done real well this time of year have been the surf, the jetties, or the spoil banks. Hardly any good bay wading trips during what I call the summer doldrums

Crazy thing is this is always our best trout fishing, mid July to mid August. We try to find muddier bottoms where the water temp is cooler, or a reef that drops off into deep water. Sandy bottoms are tough right now, as the water is too hot. I tried Traylor a couple weeks ago, stuck a couple early, then the dolphins came to play. Loaded the boat up and headed to Mesquite Bay, and got into them pretty good there.

My trailer got murdered in Conn Brown parking lot by some idiot Wednesday. Was a pretty cool day of fishing........light boat traffic, 4 foot shark came up to the boat around Hog Island, hooked up on a big jack in a school we came across just off Mud Island..............and then the fun ended when I saw my trailer in the parking lot. The idiots have moved from the water to shenanigans on land now too.....

People don't know how to drive! Mine got hooked on the rear end a couple of months ago at Conn Brown, slid the rear of the trailer over 2'.
