Did DOA get bought ?

I saw this in ad in the TIDE mag ..the CCA monthly mag ... I know minnkota and hummingbird got bought by Johnson outdoors .. who also owns 7-8 other major brands .. I don’t think such a large group with Co-brand with DOA unless there was a financial interest...

Mark from doa has moved to south Texas , they are rumored to be moving their entire operation to south Texas ...and apparently have left Their injection service and are building their own injection facility in ..south Texas ..

Anyone know anything ?

Well cool ...well back to topic somewhat . If you happpen to be an investment firm (or know of one for the outdoors industry ) m54 is trying to do a national + Australia product rollout and we need $$ help ...

Since apparently Johnson outdoors is now tied to DOA .. lol

Interesting. They make a good product, shrimp being their best. They really need to redesign their shad swim baits, good durable plastic but very little action.

A big move from Florida to S. Texas is very indicative of a buyout. I doubt Mark Nichols would have left Florida to return to S. Texas unless the business dictated it. Nothing wrong with S. Texas, I love it, but Florida seemed more his speed.

Ad placements are a big thing and not done lightly, like a guy forgetting to take his hat off.

Blair Wiggins was sponsored by DOA and Minn Kota for years, not sure if they are related but they are friendly

OP: It's odd to me that you would see someone wearing a hat in an ad, and think that means one company bought another. By your reasoning, does that mean they own Costa too? It's not a correlation I would normally expect to draw, is all. No offense meant, it's just odd to me, to make this leap.

really .. ?

spending 10K on a ad and cross promotion is NOT coordinated? weird .. i usually see the waterloo rod on the covers of Texas Saltwater fishing mag but i never see the reels or the lures or the boats or the trolling motors ALSO prominently featured with that picture.

But like was referenced above .. the move by DOA to S texas is my first clue, this was my second.. among some other inside industry moves DOA is making that indicate money being spent

Brian RUNS the marketing (as it has been explained to me)
Mark did buy a house in S texas last year
Mark and DOA did hold a birthday/writers retreat in S texas last year.
DOA has stated several times that they want the Texas Paddle tail market, going so far as to start flipping DSL guides over to DOA.

With SW florida fishing remaining closed until Aug 2020 the problems with freshwater releases and dying seagrass in SE florida .. i don't blame DOA for moving to a state with better fishing market.

Didn't he just open a new larger facility in Florida a couple years ago or something? Unless they are killing him on taxes or environmental stuff due to production or something I can't see why he'd want to move his company.

He doesn't need to move to Texas to gain market share here or to shift his focus here. Where he lives really doesn't matter as far as that goes.
