I currently have an eotech exps2-2 w/ g33 magnifier and plan on returning it due the fact they are getting sued by the military. I probably wont be seeing the extreme temperatures to even noticed the loss of zero but its a high dollar optic that shouldnt have anything wrong with it. If eotech honors the return of the magnifier too since I bought it as a combo, I dont plan on have another magnifier.
The next red dots I'm looking at is an aimpoint t1/t2 or trijicon MRO. It will be mounted on 5.56 ar that I plan on using for hog hunting and range shooting 100 yards or less.
MRO- $470-520, t1- $600, t2- $700. Most reviews I read are still conflicting and want to see if 2coolers have any input. If you have a red dot I'm overlooking please lmk.
Jungle Jim- How do you like the field of vision with the t1's, also is there a noticable blue tint? They say the mro has a larger fov similar to the eotechs which is why I am favoring it.
I have no issues with the field of view on the T1. I have used nearly all the major red dot sights and it's my favorite. I have shot a few rounds through a T2 and the dot is very crisp but I have no reason to replace the T1s yet.
Shooting with both eyes open will completely nullify the field of view issue.
eta: No blue tint I can see.
The eotech seems to have a better dot but my aimpoint T1 has nothing I can complain about except when I do use my 3X magnifier the dot is not an exact dot. In my opinion they should make them to be a perfect sphere.
I consider my T1 perfect for stalking hogs in thick forest environments because of the extremely quick and easy acquisition. I will usually take off my 3X magnifier if I am stalking in the natl forest where shots are almost always under 60 yards.
I don't need any magnification. This ar is for quick target acquisitions and home defense. Another reason why I'm returning the eotech is battery life, the exps2 takes expensive 123 batteries.
I really like my Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot. 50K hour battery life on one 2032 battery. Crisp clean 2 MOA dot. $170 with a great warranty if you need it.
I also have an EOTech EXPS2 and G-33 magnifier. That combo has been super accurate for me the last few years. I plan on keeping mine and found the below write up on another forum..for whatever it's worth.
I used an EOTech in Iraq. On top of surviving an IED blast, it kept going despite the high temperatures and countless firefights. I also bought an XPS2 a few years back. It's been through a couple carbine classes (during Louisiana summers and winters) and about 8,000rds. I haven't had an issue with it yet. I've opted to keep mine simply because it's performed well and I don't see it failing any day soon.
In my opinion, some people are playing up the severity of the situation with EOTech. Chances are, your rifle will never have to endure the conditions where they are known to fail. If that's the case, don't let it affect your decision.
