when is the best time to duck hunt?

I got invited to go on a guided duck hunt towards the end of December east of Houston. I've never been Duck hunting before but have been Dove hunting quite a bit. Is Duck hunting still good around then? Just trying to gauge my expectations for the hunt.

Should be steadily getting better between now and then. The season ends near the end of January and generally Texas' season continues getting better until the end as a result of cold fronts steadily pushing the birds down from north of us. Good luck!!

Cold weather and food are key to keeping ducks on/near the coast.

You should have a good hunt if the guide is doing all the things he should be doing before a hunt.
