Green diesel is dyed the same as red diesel, you need a different mechanic. Diesel fuel filter is going to be black/grey, does not matter what color fuel you are running thru it.

A long but interesting read from the Lead Moderator at Diesel Place. Printed in March 2011. Might answer some questions some have.

Do not think you have to pull plates/registration in Texas to use offroad diesel when using vehicle offroad. Filters are not dyed any color by any diesel fuel. Does not matter if it is green diesel or red diesel. That is why he said "may be". Just the poster making sure he CYAed.

If you do not believe me, look at your truck filter next change and see if you can find any green color on it. Green diesel is dyed the exact same way, at the exact same time, and with the exact same type of dye as red diesel.

All of our bulk road taxed diesel is clear also. You save a few dollars buying clear over green dyed, cost of the dye. Clear diesel is the same as green diesel aka road taxed diesel, just not dyed. Many service stations are going to clear diesel.

If you are running clear diesel, have to be careful if adding 2stroke oils or other fuel additives. They can turn the diesel into a rust color and DPS frowns on this. Very important to use blue 2stroke oil if you are adding it to your tanks. Guys with 7.3s better be adding something to the low sulfur diesel, and 2stroke oil tends to be one of the popular ones.

Only use it in my Kubota tractor.
Only thing I ad is something to keep the algae away, for get what it's called, but it comes in a small bottle that's about $11. All the locals around Utopia recommend it.
