Just like a paint job, surface prep before hand is critical in my opinion. Having said that, for the most part, that stuff tends to stick very well and hold for a long time. Use a straight edge as a guide for your long straight cuts, and try to use a very sharp blade and hold a consistent angle to try to minimize cut edge imperfections. Lay down masking tape as a guide for your placement. Buy the roller, and roll the snot out of it. You’ll be fine, good luck!
