Our first alligator gar trip of the year was a tough one but over all ended up good. I guided a two day trip with Michel Poggi from Italy. With cold temps in the 64 Saturday the gar wasn't on much a move. We had and overall 5 runs with the sixth run we landed and tied the current catch an release record of 7'3" and 34" girth. On the second day we had slightly warmer water conditions except for rain. It was another hard day fishing but we managed to land another trophy fish in the 6 foot range.
Bubba what is the survival chances of a gator gar that has been hooked deep after being released?
