Livescope Fishing for Redfish Port Aransas Rockport Texas July 2019

This weekend, we fished in the Blue Wave Boats Owner's tournament in Port Aransas Texas. This is footage from Day 1 (pre-fishing day). We show you how we find and identify schools of redfish, trout, and other fish.

We targeted Redfish with Garmin Livescope in a channel. Once we find them, we navigate the trolling motor to stay 20-30 feet from them and cast into them. When they're suspended in the water column like they were today, freelined shrimp is the bait of choice.

We used today to get our process down in preparation for the tournament tomorrow. Stay tuned for that video next, and how we performed in the tournament. Enjoy the video.

Isn’t it better to locate the fish by catching a few and then pull out until tournament day? Not sure I would sit there and put a hook in front of every fish in the school and expect to come back the next day expecting the same results.

Typically, you'r right. That was just 2.5 hrs worth of fishing; and we left for that exact reason. We caught over 30 fish on tournament day and turned in 6 that were between 27-28". With Livescope, if they're around, you can find them.
