Flats with Tops and GrassWalker

hit some flats in Port A and did fairly well with some kayak buds of mine.. Justin Stiles and Jason Brown; Good guys and good fisherman. We split up on the flats and then ended up at the same place to catch our fish. LOL. mostly where an incoming tide was sweeping across the flat. Spook jr. got quite a few strikes.. what can I say it's topwater time. My biggest red and biggest trout came on the bone GrassWalker in some oyster. I love catching fish on topwater.. feed the fish what they want. Trout were in a little deeper range on the flat, good incoming tide with bait and trout slicks... gotta read the sign and fish aggressively to the sign you see. We also did a little bit of sight casting and had a few strikes there but they weren't quite committing to anything either blowing up on top or missing the bait entirely, but it's just the start of fishing the flats it will get better. It was a good end to a long weekend working the Rockport Show. On my way out I stopped by Tackle Town and made sure they were stocked up.. really cool place they have there and they have everything. ...Literally. Hooks, tops, my bait, e v e r y thing. Check out the website for other locations.

Nice! How was the water clarity? Was kind of blown out on Saturday

It was slightly sandy but green where we were.. in those yaks with that wind we had to stay in the flats and moderately protected and the water held just fine.

Good report. Looking forward to getting back over that way next week.

Tackle town is awesome. Also enjoy visiting the Orvis shop down the street.
