GE are generally good, but if you look up Consumer Reports on appliances Kenmore is a pretty good buy also. Bosch just recently came out with one of the best dishwasher line-ups ever and deserves a look...

Most of the Kenmores are now made by Whirlpool. Parents always bought Sears/Kenmore back in the day. In 94 I had top of the line Kenmore installed in my house & was pleased. Don't think same quality exists 20 yrs later. House I bought a couple years ago had Frigidaire appliances. I will not ever buy another Frigidaire frig. I also will not have another Amana washer/dryer, can't comment on other amana applicances.
Long story short, had an independent appliance repairman say that right now the best appliances are GEs.

we have good luck with whirlpool. i'd stay away from kenmore and bosch. don't know if its possible, but consider buying your appliances from costco. each will come with a lifetime warranty. that way, there is no need for an "extended warranty".

My Little Big boat
I have been happy with my GE profile set up I got.. Gas stove and double oven (I like to cook). I bought the store displays at 50% off

This isn't really the appropriate forum to ask this since I'm not 'doing it myself' but I figured people who look at this may have some decent insight.
My wife and I are building a home in the hill country and are at the selection phase of the process. We have to pick out a gas stove top, refrigerator, double oven and dish washer. Just curious if any of you have any thoughts on brand names to either get or stay away from. We cook a pretty good amount, but aren't looking for the top of the line/professional type appliances. Kind of looking for the best bang for our buck.
