Most trout under the birds are small schoolies though.. some will say you can catch bigger fish deeper and there are times when that is true. I will say that early fall is mostly smaller fish.

Generally speaking u will see heavy groups of gulls working schools of shrimp in the fall when the fronts starts to flush the marsh as well as in late spring when shrimp start to migrate in.However on any given day u can circle the bay and if the conditions are right u can cross a flock of birds.After rains sometimes back lakes and marshes get flushed and push schools of bait fish or shrimp into open waters.There is a lot of bird activity in mid afternoon noon is certain parts of the bay right now .

I see birds every time I go over to east bay - pelicans, terns, gulls, frigates, etc.
