I'm looking for a set of Yamaha 150 TRP props. I see they come in several pitches...they are available in 19", 21", 25", and 27" pitch sets. I have a 21' Tran Cat and I fish mostly in the POC area where we have a lot of shallow flats. What pitch do you think would be best for my boat? Does anyone have a set they would like to sell that are in very good condition and/or does anyone know where I can buy some. Mine are real dinged up and I don't want to be down while they are in the shop being re-worked. Thanks

We decided on putting a TRP on our new TranCat, and just recently talked to Donnie (Tran) about prop selection. He heavily reccomended the 19" props for this particular hull. As far as finding them, I know you can get them at Ronnie's in Aransas Pass, but there won't be any discount. We had a TRP on a previous boat and had Bauman's re-do the props at one point, they did great work and I believe it took less than a week.

I'm thinking abouy buying a rig exactly like this. How fast does it run with the 21's?

Do you have the 21's on your boat? While I have a ton of experience in the Tran, I do not have that much with the TRP. I always see bigger boats, 21'+ running 21's and wonder how that smaller motor turns them. There must be a lot of aeration or the gearing is way low. Either way, I would seriously consider the 19's. Your top end will suffer a little, maybe 4-5 m/hr or probably 10% but if your looking for more holeshot that is the only way to go. I run a VZ200 on mine with an offshore power tech in 15 1/4x 18 and get 52-54 w/2 people and still get hard holeshots. I need to time it.

This prop works so well, I tell you it will get my boat up when it is not floating, but it is hard on the hubs if you push it too hard in the mud/sand. Remember, if your having a hard time getting up, Turn all the way to the left and ease her up. If that doesn't work, turn hard left and hamer down. I start with my motor trimmed up a little, say maybe 3 or to where i am getting clean water while in gear JP all the way up, and then get into it and hold down the trim button as you do it, but watch your rpms. It works for me....

Yeah, talk to Chris, I heard he talks to the experienced guys in Houston to how to set up these boats and he only has to try to get them right 2 to 3 times. But since he's close to the water, it seems like a bargain.

I had a friend of mine that got shafted by Chris for the amount of $185.00 just to put a hub in and the moron didn't even tell him to wait 24 hrs like the manufacturer suggests before he runs the propeller after the hub was inserted. Chris inserted the hub, told him to be easy with it 20 minutes after installation, sent him out, spun it within 25 minutes....using Chris's instructions...and then told my buddy tuff sh>>>iat, no refund and no help afterwards. he wanted to sell him a new prop at $600.00 No refund and no help on the hub he just installed.

Just screwed my buddy and wanted to screw him more by selling him a prop that wasn't even close to being right.

Be careful of dealing with that guy. I've heard of way to may bad dealings with him and he doesn't care about getting ot right as long as he has your money.
