....OK, OK - it's not a trout - but it's an awful big bass my fishing buddy, Pat Collis, caught at a small lake on his mom's ranch in east Texas last weekend.

It was 27 3/4" long and weighed 12.5 pounds. It was released back into the lake. You can see it's all head, with not much bulk on the body. It is estimated that this fish could produce 4 lbs of eggs, and weigh close to 16 or 17 pounds next spring. I'd believe it - trying to sweet talk Pat into taking me there next spring.

Hey Ray!

Heading down this weekend....hope to get offshore.....
Haven't been doing much fishing, been saving my time for low wind days this spring that never came. Haven't been offshore since October.

Spent 4 days in March fishing inshore, caught loads of fish - big reds, but no real big trout. Pat and I each got one 6 lbs, and we had several 4's, but that's it.

Rest of the weekend spent working on the houses, boat, and prepping tackle.

Hope to have a marlin this weekend.

Whiskey Jack Lake-42" long

John,

Thanks for giving me a call the last time down. One of these days we're going out deep. Just wanted to pass this photo to you. Here is an email and photo from a buddy.

Chris â€" Do you remember my friend Jeremy who came with me when we last fished with you in February? He just got back from a Canada fishing trip with his dad and he caught a huge Pike. Your Bay Flats hat made the trip too… Check out the pic.
